sonicLAB has announced that Oceanic, a software bundle that they say “captures the essence of the ocean’s waves and transforms them into a symphony of additive sound synthesis,” is now available for iPad.
It’s available as a free download for iPad.
Here’s what they have to say about it:
so apparently the ipad app is only a controller and synths are supposed to be on the pc\mac side
son of a ! how much more betrayal can I take?
Straighten us out, folks in the know.
Does this free app require paid software on PC/Mac/other to do anything? It certainly seems to, through all the foggy wordiness on the app store page, here, and on their website.
If the app doesn’t do anything of value on its own, then this blurb is pretty misleading.
“How It Works: The main app Oceanic creates interactive wave simulations that communicate with the plugins over your network. This Oceanic version connects seamlessly with desktop plugins for mobile control and creativity.”
From the app description on the App Store.
Says to me that you need the plugins on the computer. Don’t know if it outputs proprietary control info, not midi, but seems like you get a free app for controlling paid software.
