Alto Professional Launches Compact 16-Channel TMD16 Mixer

Alto Professional has introduced the TMD16 , a 16-channel digital audio mixer, designed for live sound applications in small music venues, rehearsal spaces, event centers, houses of worship, and more.

The TMD16 features intuitive tactile controls, comprehensive I/O, and pro-quality processing in a compact package.

“The TMD16 addresses a real need in the market for professional digital mixing that doesn’t require an audio engineering degree to operate,” said John Boudreau, director of product development at Alto Professional. “If you’ve been running an analog mixer and wondering when it makes sense to go digital, this is it. The TMD16 gives you that same hands-on, tactile workflow you’re used to, plus powerful built-in effects and routing that would cost thousands to add to an analog board.”

The TMD16 features seven 100mm capacitive touch faders with 18-segment LED indicators, a 7-inch color display, and 10 dedicated push-button encoders with press functionality. This tactile interface provides direct access to parametric EQ, compression, effects, and preset management without menu diving, making professional digital mixing as intuitive as an analog console.

With 16 x 12 analog I/O, the mixer accommodates eight digital mic/line channels on combo connectors, two digital mic/stereo line channels, plus multiple stereo input options. The extensive output section delivers comprehensive routing flexibility for any live sound application.

Features:

  • 16 x 12 analog I/O with eight digital mic/line channels on combo connectors, two digital mic/stereo line channels on XLR plus two TRS connectors, stereo RCA and 3.5mm inputs for maximum flexibility.
  • The output section includes two Main, four Subgroup, three Aux, one FX XLR outputs, two Monitor TRS outputs, and top-panel headphone output.
  • Bluetooth audio streaming enables wireless integration of backing tracks and smart device content.
  • USB connectivity for recording and playback integration.
  • 7-inch color display for clear visual feedback and easy navigation of mixer functions, settings, and metering.
  • 10 dedicated push-button encoders with press functionality provide direct access to EQ, compression, and effects without menu diving.
  • Seven 100mm capacitive touch faders with 18-segment LED indicators deliver precise, responsive level control.
  • Dedicated channel solo and mute functionality streamlines workflow during setup and performance.
  • Parametric EQ on all channels provides precise tonal shaping with adjustable frequency, gain, and Q settings.
  • Compressors on all inputs and outputs deliver professional dynamics processing for consistent levels and punch.
  • High-resolution effects engine includes reverbs, delays, choruses, compressor/limiter, and 7-band graphic EQ.
  • Hassle-free preset save and recall for instant access to complete mixer configurations.
  • Alto Pro Mix Control App for iOS and Android via Bluetooth LE enables remote mixing from different locations in the venue.
  • Universal 100-240VAC / 50-60Hz power supply with included 6-foot IEC cable for worldwide compatibility.

  1. Interesting choice for faders, pretty cool actually. I wonder what the lifespan looks like compared to motorized options. I must say though the digital mixers are highly underrated for home studios.

    1. Honestly, I’ve never liked the idea of having additional AD/DA conversions, so if I can, I always prefer the analogue path right up to the last (and only) digital-recording step.
Especially if the converters are not excellent (and inevitably expensive…).
For live use, however, this type of mixer seems excellent. You can even go to hot spots in the audience and adjust the equalisation with your mobile phone!

    1. True those faders look like a terrible choice – tho accidential fader touches can be limited by only make the thouch strip react when you touch it at the actualy fader position – but the microscopic led dot to indicate the fader position is a joke at best.
