Future Retro has launched a Kickstarter project to fund production of a new version of their legendary 777 synthesizer, which has been unavailable for more than 2 decades.
The 777 is a monophonic analog synthesizer with a digital sequencer, inspired by the Roland TB-303.
The new version builds on the the synth engine of the original. As part of their project plans, they plan to update the sequencer with the remix features of their Revolution synth.
The 777 has been used by The Chemical Brothers, The Crystal Method, KMFDM, Nine Inch Nails, Richie Hawtin, Aphex Twin, BT, Nortec Collective and many others.
Pricing and Availability:
The 777 is available to project backers starting at $888 USD.
Note: Crowdfunded projects can involve risk. See the project site for details.

Super exciting! I’ve wanted one of these for a while, so good to see FR back in action!!
Missed the chance to have a $777 early bird option.
Other than that, this is exciting.
I was excited for the 777 as an owner of an og 777 and the revolution I have to say what disappoint in the kick starter. The new for this synth has been quite the roller coaster ride. The re issuing of the #777 was announced we didn’t hear anything for a few years then after the Covid trade wars and the raise of electronics prices things weren’t looking good. Then whenever the tariff thing started last year Future Retro came out and said the 777 and all future projects would be canceled and he would be forced to hang up the hat due to rising cost for electronics. We lost alot great makers recently most notable would be Mutable Instruments founder retiring. Now when I saw the kick starter I read it went to the actually kickstarter site, read all the upcoming info and Im just no surprised. The kickstarter is funding production so its will be $888 + whatever price they sell the synth for. If this was a brand new company I wouldn’t be even making this post however the tariff prices on electronics have been going down from the height of what they were not offering a heavily discounted 777 seems sorta unfair. Like listed above dudes gear has been used some pretty famous and influential people. Maybe Im being unreasonable Im not sure I know im torn and would love to have an update 777 and then I see other makers pulling through so idk maybe its me
Considering the original unit sold for $777 over 20 years ago. A brand new, updated unit for $111 more is pretty much a steal these days. I’m not even going to think twice about supporting the kickstarter. I never had the funds to buy an OG unit and kicked myself all these years. So I won’t miss out this time.
Let’s hope that there shall be more to come in the future ?
Nice to see their return
Interesting I did a quick search because the article is not clear about the ownership structure. The company was initially founded by Jered Flickinger but he shut down operations in 2022 I believe. The brand name has been bought by new investors and Jered Flickinger is not part of the new ownership structure (whatever the structure is). There is no information / cv’s regarding the new owners, as far as I can see.
Who are we paying?
Awesome. I had a fr xs long ago and still have the manual with patch tips. Quality products !! This is a duel oscillator 303 and then some.
