Behringer UB-Xa Mini Hands-On Demo

In his latest video, Cap10NRG (Captain Energy) shares an overview of the Behringer UB-Xa Mini.

The Behringer UB-Xa Mini is a mini-synth with a synth voice based on their flagship UB-Xa keyboard, which itself copies the classic Oberheim OB-Xa.

“This tiny synth really packs a punch,” he notes. “I am going to go over most of what it can do in this video, so grab snack and join me!”

  1. It’s a good thing to see low end budget synths continue to enter the market…but it’s clearly a bad thing to use Oberheim’s distinctive trade dress to suggest that this product has some sort of lineage or link to them. There’s thousands of other options for cosmetics and naming that doesn’t try to leverage Oberheim’s legacy, doesn’t try to piggyback off the effort that Behringer’s engineers put into creating their “big” UB-Xa, and / or leading people in the hobby to think that they’re getting something other than a lowest cost anonymous circuit design.
