Shut Up & Play: Sounds Of The ASM Leviasynth

If you’ve been looking for sound design demos for the new Ashun Sound Machines Leviasynth, debuting at the 2026 NAMM Show, look no further.

Sound designer Jexus (sounds-for-synths.com) shared this demo of the patches that he created for the Leviasynth. Jexus is know of exploring the nooks and crannies of sound design with his patch library, and the Jexus Leviasynth presets cover a huge range.

Here’s what Jexus has to say about the Leviasynth presets:

“In 2025 Ashun Sound Machines contacted me and asked if I would like to create a set of unique patches for their upcoming synth. No details were disclosed about the instrument but, as you can imagine, I was curious. I agreed and several weeks later a monster 8-oscillator synth arrived at my doorstep.

Today all of you can see it and hear it in action – the LEVIASYNTH is ready!

Here’s a quick video with some factory presets I created on the new Leviasynth. In this demo I kept the internal reverb low and did a fair amount of tweaking to give you a better idea of the timbre / behavior of the synth.”

Check out the sounds and share your thoughts on the ASM Leviasynth in the comments!

    1. Jexus’s sounds can be a little ‘out there’, but his sound design gives you a better sense of what a synth’s range is than just about anybody.

  1. Super awesome demo! This has a lot of character. 8 OP FM, let’s hit some FS1R territory, hell yeah! And all the rest, well done ASM, once again!

  2. Little bit underwhelming I’m afraid…
Perhaps my ears are spoiled these days by rather massive range of excellent sounding software instrument plugins….

  3. I don’t hear anything fresh, groundbreaking, or even ‘fat’. I think this machine is for those who care about specifications, rather than innovation.
And what is the difference between Polytouch® and polyphonic aftertouch?

    1. Yeah, was hoping Jexus would bring something else to the foreground, but I really don’t hear anything that I haven’t heard before (except for the stereo stuff, but that’s just distracting glitter). Maybe the core sound is fine yet lacklustre because that’s the furthest FM can be pushed?

      1. Synth makers have their guidelines for sound designers and oftentimes they demand the presets be kinda boring but playable / usable. Then comes the stage when the synth is let loose and anyone can create their own tweaks with any genre of noise they wish. That’s when we’ll see the wild territories the synth can be pushed into.

        1. This! I remember that Jexus told about his cooperation with Moog, about requirements for Muse. He had to make patches louder, than he normally would. And gain staging is a real thing. :]

This time he also mentioned some requirements. I don’t know, if they are restrictive or not, but for sure they will guide to different results than “no statement” possibility. Even providing with hardware brings some requirements, even if non spoken, like possibility of any unconscious biases – at least this is how I imagine any decent person would feel, just from respect toward business partner (i.e. I imagine that, if one doesn’t like instrument, purchased by own money, pressure to deal with it is lesser, than when given from limited stock from a company).

  4. Many of these sound like something you can easily do on the Hydrasynth. Some of them are good, though. Overall, not great, I agree. Not bad, just not great. I don’t think this video is doing ASM or the Leviasynth any favors.

I imagine that with a synth like this, the first thing many will do is erase all the factory presets — I know I did with the Hydrasynth. This didn’t change my mind on that front.

  6. I love how people bitch because Oz is green instead of orange. This synth isn’t for casual hobbyists. It has several powerful layers even seasoned players won’t master right away. That’s part of why its priced accordingly. The algorithm morphing has a mass of potential just waiting to land as people get used to it.

I don’t know which sound demos you’re hearing, but I’m seriously impressed. Not “gobsmacked,” maybe, but I expect to eventually see a smaller version comparable to the Hydrasynth Explorer. Its a mutated Hydrasynth with major 6-pack abs.
