  1. How are you gonna call this a sampler and not have an input jack? No a microphone is not enough. And the $429 price is crazy! Buy an Ableton Move instead!

    1. Geez yeah, I’ll take an input jack over an onboard mic 100%.

Overall, I like the form factor and general idea, but I didn’t get the groove thing at all, and the demo didn’t showcase any effects. It just seems like a lot of clicking and waiting to build up a super simple jam with 2 static patterns.

    2. This isn’t for professionals, it’s for people who appreciate the design above all else.
Not to say professionals don’t also buy with their eyes but discussing feature lists or price/performance ratio misses the point.
The price is for the looks. No one who’s truly interested in this will find the Move attractive. It’s more like the Chompi but with TE design language.
If you like the design it’s simply a nice thing to have that also makes sound.
Plus you can even record yourself using the built-in mic 🙂

    3. Not sure I mind about the “sampler” tag, we have had other samplers without input jacks before, but calling it a “looper” without input jacks is weird. Are you sure it doesn’t? I think “looper” means RC505 functionality to everyone.

It does look fun for messing around though, I would like to try one.

  2. I think it’s really annoying when people show a new instrument while wearing black gloves. I’m not interested in this device anymore
    boring

  3. > How are you gonna call this a sampler and not have an input jack?

    Er… because it samples sounds?

I have an Akai S-5000 sampler in my rack. It has lots of inputs (and outputs). I’d happily sell it you for $299.

  4. Looks pretty cool. Seems to be ok. They say there will be updates that upgrade. As everyone states it needs an input. My old Casio samplers from wayback even had line/audio inputs. Those were 8-bit toys. Please add an input jack, then it will be better. Or make the usb work with a line input adapter.

  5. This contraption is on Chinese kick-start so not available for purchase yet if ever and it looks like something you could buy from ToysRus satisfying needs of 10 year olds… 😉
Btw; In that price range there are many other options including basic iPad running hundreds of free apps…

  6. someone else said exactly what my first thought was – chompy with teenage engineering aesthetic. given the price I would expect it to have basic features like INPUT, especially since it classifies itself as a sampler. I guess the sentiment behind development is more for it to encourage field recording and have a premium audio toy for hauling around specifically outdoors away from a studio.
