  1. I guess their money ran out. Personally, I’m unable to be excited about this. Every hobbyist producer on YouTube has been able to make BoC sounding sonds for the last twenty years.

        1. Your comment was offensive and you got called out on it…

Man, this is weirdly one of the most negative comment sections that I regularly visit. Why are musicians so grumpy? ?

            1. name calling internet strangers “prick” 2x in a row = witty retort. music has the right to children. Ps: for those interested in the post it is speculated that Tape 05 – could be Track 05 due to length.

        2. Admin: Personal attack (name-calling) deleted.

Keep comments on topic and constructive.

myself – you’ve been added to the ‘Comment Moderation’ list for repeated name-calling.

    1. What a depressing, cynical comment. There was never any secret to how Boards of Canada made their sounds. Any dipshit can copy a synth sound – can they make a song, or an album that people around the world respond to for decades? Do they have a coherent aesthetic? A work ethic? The ability to tour and relate to people?

    2. It’s not just about their sound; it’s about the life experiences that led them to create music like that. Their chord progressions, melodies, and sound design are direct reflections of their childhood. There’s no point in trying to replicate that.

  2. I sort of feel like if any other artist had demonstrated the complete lack of stylistic evolution that BOC have demonstrated over the years along with the overcooked pseudo-gureilla marketing they’d be pilloried for it.

MHTRTC, Geogaddi and the early EPs are magical. Post Campfire Headphase it just sounds like they’re trying too hard to sound like themselves. Now they find themselves adrift in a sea of AI-generated lofi playlists they themselves helped influence. Well see how this one sounds…

  3. If you think this place gets rude, hang around on Twiddle/X for a while. Its like running through a dog pound with bacon in your pants and a kitten in your shirt pocket.

I like BOC just fine. They’re among the best ambient godfathers, like Eno or Cluster.

  4. I think that Tape 05 will end up being track 5, Father and Son. The video of Tape 05 is 3:22 and Father and Son is 3:24 according to Wikipedia. I couldn’t find the length on Bleep or Bandcamp, so I don’t know where the source of the track lengths.

Anyway this is my guess about the track and its possible inclusion on the album.

  5. I just want to say that I love you guys.
Whenever a new product is released, I always wonder what sucks about that product.
So I come to this site and scroll right down to the comments.
And boom all the reason why said product sucks according to the wonderful Synthtopia comment section.

    1. Personally, I kinda hate the comment section of synthtopia. Lots of trolls seem to gather here. No sense of emotional intelligence and just spewing the worst bile imaginable. Policing comments would be a full time job, thank you for your work synthhead. The constant trolling is bad enough I’ve considered leaving the site. I more than likely will should I see it continue. Making fun of people, their screen names, feels like school yard bullies. Do better.nothing positive to add? Maybe think before you post.
      .

  6. Awesome!! Can’t wait.

Don’t get all these promotions before the fact though (not in this site). Probably saw already 15 different facebook posts about the upcoming new music but it’s not out yet. I’m personally gonna wait for the full album to be released to have a listen, cause I’m oldschool like that.

Boards of Canada rule! (I mean, surf)

    1. When did it become offensive to not like music? I and myself believe that their stylistic approach 30 years after they introduced it is no longer exciting and has been copied by many artists, and beyond. Is it our fault that their music doesn’t moving us anymore What are we supposed to be here tree huggers who love everything regardless? No one said that BoC are not a great band, however here they seen to be repeating a style that has run its course.

      1. There’s nothing wrong with repeating a style. It’s who they are and what we’ve come to expect. My breakfast cereal has stayed the same for years. I like it and know what to expect when I open the packet. There’s comfort in familiarity, whether it’s food, music or whatever floats your boat. I’d like to hear new BoC and hope it’s as good as their first couple of albums. I’d like to hear more mangled Sesame Street samples and would be really pissed if it was some new free-form jazz fusion exploration just for the sake of being different.

        1. Yep, take DnB and similar styles for example, very samey…but never get old to me and can listen every day.

        1. @Watercoloured. I was replying to @Xrx, not you. It might not have been apparent in the post. Hope that clears things up. Dude.

      1. In my paltry defence, I have just as many Boards of Canada albums as I do Blue Oyster Cult, so I’m not ready for the grave just yet…..
