Gulf Coast Synthesis shared this quick demo of GCS Strum Plate, a plugin that lets you ‘strum’ notes to play your software instruments.
They note, “Instead of using the typical autochord style of an Omnichord and other products, you can hold a chord on a MIDI keyboard and intuitively strum across the gold plate or via the pitch wheel.”

doesn’t seem to work for me in ableton. I run the midi through it and it just comes out as a note to the receiving channel and the pitch bend bends the pitch as well as triggering the strum but the strum isn’t affecting the sound
Buggy. Ableton thinks its an audio effect instead of a midi effect and insists on it’s being placed after the synth instead of before, so it doesn’t work. Also doesn’t seem to register the AU version.
I created a max patch that does a similar same thing last year, except instead of strumming a plate with a mouse, you use a separate midi controller or split keyboard zone. I’ve been meaning to tighten it up and release as freeware.

Quite nice for piano trills! Took a bit of practice precisely controlling the pitch wheel, but that ‘humanization’ adds charm.
LOVE it.
