Memorymoog Presets Now Available For Moog Muse

Moog Music today released the Memorymoog Preset Collection for the Muse synthesizer.

The free collection was created by synthesist and sound designer Eric Frampton, and recreates all 100 original Memorymoog factory presets.

The demo video, embedded above, offers a head-to-head comparison between the original Memorymoog and Muse versions.

Using Muse’s modern architecture, each sound goes beyond the original, adding velocity, aftertouch, macro controls, effects, and expanded modulation, while preserving the three-oscillator design of the original Memorymoog patches.

  1. The envelopes sound much snappier on the the Memorymoog. Goes back to the saying, “they don’t make them like they used to.” I love my Moog Muse though –it is my first polysynth purchase and i’m very happy with it’s limitless modulation possibilities.

  2. Eric is the man! He’s been a keyboard tech in the touring scene for a long time, and I’ve ran into him several times, super knowledgable.

  3. Memorymoog owner here. I was damned impressed by this demo. To the point that I would highly encourage folks considering either instrument to go for the Muse first, and see if it serves all of their needs before spending double the money on a 40+ year old, cantankerous and difficult to service Memorymoog. When you consider how close these sound, and then add in all the capabilities of the new instrument as well as the fact that it’s not a famously unreliable vintage synth, there’s no way you can justify the extra money.

That said… I’m still glad I have the OG… even if I’m afraid to turn it on sometimes.
